Health Ministries
CHIP
The Coronary Health Improvement Project assists participants to reverse diabetes, disarm hypertension, and melt away atherosclerosis. Available worldwide, scientifically validated as both effective and efficient, CHIP has assisted more than 40,000 people over the past 20 years in their quest to be "healthy by choice, not chance."
First presented in Fairfield in 2005 as a joint effort with Fairfield Memorial Hospital, the Wayne County Health Department, and Southern Illinois Primary Care Associates, CHIP represents a unique resource for southern Illinois. The eight week course includes not only information but a complete cooking school as well.
Dr. Steve Scott MD serves as the primary facilitator, Tracy Scranton provides leadership and coordination of the nutrition program, and Bea Pierce serves as the volunteer coordinator and registrar.
